Just picked up 20 bags from the Lowe's in New Haven, CT. I asked the guy helping us when they start stocking in the fall--partly to know whether to get more than I need now so I'd have some to start next heating season. He--a pellet head himself--said they stock year around, that I'd be able to buy some in July or August, for instance.

Is this in accord with anyone's experience? I noticed that while all of the Home Depots in my area are out of stock, all of the Lowe's have a good supply.

I have seen pellets at Lowes in the summer, but price wasn't the usual $209-219/ton, so I waited. But many of them do stock winter "left-over" tons on the upper racks in the garden centers. Just got a message from Robbie at Greene Team about a week ago that he had some deliveries going out to some Lowes.

nice, pellets left out in the open all summer!!

My local Lowes also stores pellets on the racks under cover. Problem is HD doesn't and the war stops once that happens. So Lowes raises the price to around $300/ton. I can get much better pellets at the pellet house and they are usually on a spring buy price break.

my lowes in danvers mass had hearthsides yesterday . i was on a mission so i didn't go snooping around .
Hearthsides?? Never heard of those at Lowes..

My local Lowes has had a few different brands of pellets this year. You never know what. I did get Somersets and Greenways there this winter and at $189 a ton. Great price and really good pellets. They had another brand that was just ok that I got a few bags of but don't remember what. They also say they stock year round. They are wrapped and under cover in the garden center off season.

Not a lot of people in my area have pellet stoves but I think they are beginning to be a little more popular. We love ours!

Ive seen them in the middle of summer at Lowes, I suspect its hit or miss. Id be surprised if they run out at the end of the season if they order more. If they have some in July they are probably left overs.

Not here on Long Island all the lowes and home depots are out of stock within 35 miles of me

Back when you got those from NH store, they were the only store to have any pellets from what I recall. I called all around ( I am in Seymour) and they were the only one with pellets. Some off brand. When I went there I luckly found a stack of GTs and bought 30 bags as that was all I could fit in my car. They had 24 left and I wish I had gone back to grab them. I have 12 bags left and am sure I am going to need more. I called and no lowes around has any and say they wont be getting any until August (that is specifically what the NH store told me). Derby store said they hoped to get some. So next door is CT family home and hearth and they have Hamer's Hot ones for $7.99/bag. That is prett stiff when I have been paying $4.20/bag of GT as I use a $10 off $50 coup and buy 10 bags at a time. So I am heading to Norwalk and was hoping to pick up some bags while I was out, but not sure from where...

Lowes here keeps the pellets in the garden center in the Winter.
May, June, July last year they only had single bags - dispensed from a one ton skid in the entrance vestibule near the shopping carts.
August and September they had what looked like two trailer loads stacked three skids high on the sidewalk in front of the garden center.
209 for a while, then 199 and at 199 the whole mountain disappeared.
HD seems to treat pellets as a seasonal item and they don't have wood stoves any more and I don't think they had pellet stoves this year either. Although they have some good prices on Englander stuff every now and then but it gets shipped.

All the Lowe's stores around here are out of the Somerset pellets they usually sell. The guy at the customer service desk said they won't have anymore until late summer. When they get a shipment in the pellets are stored outside under plastic in the garden center.

The Somersets I buy are priced at $172 a ton picked up at the store. This price includes the 10% off discount that Lowe's gives to all Veterans. :)
