Just purchased 4 tons of Greene Team pellets today. $928 delivered. Home depot dropped their price a few days ago from 299 to 249/ton and lowes followed suit. So 249 plus $80 to deliver them minus the sale discount for 4 tons of 150. Im glad i waited a bit and found some decent pellets. All home depot had were penningtons and fireside ultras which, thanks to this forum, i found out were not particularly good.

It's a nice thing to have competition, isn't it? In my area, the Lowe's & HD are almost directly across the street from each other....I wonder how many people are running back & forth trying to get the stores to keep "beating" the competitions price?

Just two. But it was worth it. Lowes gave me the deal and even took my 10% coupon on top of it.

Same here Packer.... Firesides were very hot....and not alot of ash at all.

The fireside ultras I have burned in the past are some of the best pellets I've ever burned. But everyones experience will vary to an extent.

Home Depot and Lowes actually have pellets this year and have $269 / ton tags on the skids.
Nothing, zip, nada last year. Southeastern Ma.

I spoke to the store manager yesterday and he told me he will be getting nearly 100 pallets in the next few weeks.

Funniest thing to me so far, with the HD vs. Lowes Monster Pellet Smackdown this season was that HD actually HAD my 5 ton order already paid for (@ $1045 or $209/ton), but for some silly requirement that you must sign a waiver in order to schedule a delivery. For that, I ended up canceling and going with Lowes.

The problem in my case was that I was placing my order by phone and do not have a fax machine to receive their waiver to sign and return it. That, and it being at least a 90 min. round trip to the mall hell where the nearest Lowes & HD are located, calling in the order seemed like a real convenient option. I told them up front that I wanted delivery, but it wasn't until they'd processed the charge (for the cost of the pellets only), that they told me that without a fax machine I'd have to physically come to the store to sign the waiver in order to pay for and schedule delivery. Not knowing that Lowe's in fact does not have this requirement, I let the HD order stand and resigned myself to going down there.

In the meantime, I came here to Hearth (yea!) to inquire (on a separate thread) about Clean Energy and Greene Team pellets which is what Lowes sells, and got good enough feedback on each - particularly Greene Team, that I decided that I'd be perfectly ok with either one vs. the Stove Chow I was going to get from HD. (I used Stove Chow last year and was ok with it, but am happy to try something else this year). But also here on Hearth, I was reminded of the Lowes 10% coupon at the post office! So the next day I grabbed the coupon and headed to Lowes (satisfied that the $100 or so savings I might get was making it worth the trip vs. the nothing but a form I'd get to sign from HD). But then, through another whole bizarre affair, which included convincing Lowes to accept the 10% coupon by telling them I thought HD had better pellets, I ended up getting charged a mere $890 or $178/ton - $192/ton with delivery, for the entire 5-ton order!! An insanely low price. The price w/the coupon should have come to $202/ton incl. delivery... but somewhere along the way the cashier knocked off another $10/ton. Cool! So I promptly called HD once back home and joyfully canceled. But for that stupid waiver form, they'd have probably had me, and at $31/ton more than I ended up paying.
So, need I say it... kudos to Lowes!
And... THANKS to all the pellet pigs and fantastic info here @ Hearth. (Yea!)
