Maine heating relief checks

I’ve been hearing something about $450 checks going for heating relief here in Maine. Just figured the payments were going to low income families. That’s not the case at all. Individuals making less than 100,00, couples 200,000 will be getting those checks over the next few months. For many it will cover the cost of 1 or 2 hundred gallons of #2 fuel oil. A couple getting $900 could parlay that along with upcoming rebates and tax credits toward some long term energy / cost savings, mini split, domestic hot water heat pump etc.
