Marks on glass what's going on

hello everyone. New user this year and had a question for everyone concerning black marks on glass . I'm using okie df pellets great heat no ash but still getting these marks. Are they normal or what should I be looking to fix. Thanks

They wipe pretty easily when I use the ash from pan and mr clean eraser.

Hope this helps, but every morning I use a dry 100% cotton rag to wipe off the glass when I fill the stove. And then again in the evening I rarely have any build up on the glass this way.

If you keep the rag handy it take less time to wipe the glass clean than to scrape the pot. Looks nice also,and use protective gloves that glass will be hot .

I was just going to ask that. Do you shut stove down and wait to clean the glass or just clean it. I have always shut stove down and waited for it to cool before cleaning . Thanks for the tip

I open the stove regardless of where the flame is and wipe with a rag REALLY quick.
I don't use any glass cleaner though...glass clould crack so I wait till it cools down a bit before using any Windex or whatever.
I have found that when I get those stains on the side like you do, I have learned to use a rag and do a Quick wipe ONE WAY a few times with some pressure..comes right off.. Harman is know sometimes for the famous Teardrop in the corner of the glass.
back/forth when it;s dry just smudges it up more.

I let the glass cool and simply use a damp paper towel to clean the glass. A little elbow grease and it all comes off. I haven't had to use any cleanser yet.

Looks totally normal to me. As long as it's not getting black and stays white gray color it is fine. Heavy black is an indicator for bad combustion or bad pellets. I have seen how that looks like and you don't have that.

I have never tried the "quick clean" rag approach while the stove is running. I don't have an issue with the glass getting that white gray film in it, until I shut it down for the weekly clean and then get the glass when cold. I may give it a shot sometime!

yes.. I have burned Energex golden pellets 0.5 ash[ the're top of the line clean pellets] and still will get something to clean on the glass.
Burned Oregon's Douglas Fir Blazers.. even less ash... still ususally will have something on the glass to clean.
some here brag about the glass always being clean? guess there is no Ash or dust floating around in the're stoves.

I have a similar issue with my Milan when the air wash holes for the glass become clogged. This can happen when wiping and debris collects in the inside channel of the door at the glass interface. I blow the holes out with my compressor and vacuum them from the outside when needed.

I have a p35 also get the same spots as well as top of the glass . I use a stove top cleaner it comes right off

Streaks are all part of the fun as many have mentioned. If you do a clean (cool glass) then keep up with the daily dry quick rag wipe (wearing gloves) it will stay pretty nice. Better than nothing anyway. Did it for awhile and have slacked off a bit. As long as mine is heating well I'll put the beer goggles on and deal with it. LOL!

Same here with my harman. I try to wipe the glass everyday. Dip the rag in the ashes and wipe, works well for the stubborn grime

The marks look normal to me.

To minimize them and extend the time it takes for them to build up, you might want to try ceramic stovetop cleaner. This stuff tends to fill micropores in the glass and make it harder for the crap to adhere. Also, I find that cleaning the slots where the air wash comes out, with a pipecleaner, helps as well. Finally, I seem to remember reading here somewhere to avoid windex and other amonia based glass cleaners.

Simple answer.. Yes it's normal. As stated above a quick wipe with a tag while scraping the burn pot will help when hot.. Otherwise mine wipes off easily with a tag and water when I chit down and do weekly cleaning

I also read something on ammonia based cleaners and thought you stayed away from their use on lexan or plastic due to the crazing that it can cause , I did not understand what it did to glass , thought it would be impermeable

I was told that the Ammonia is not good for the Fiber Gasket around the glass..
[dripping down after being sprayed before being wiped]..
doesn't matter as I spray my rag with whatever I use then wipe..

Same here.. I spray the rag not the glass. I did just see an ammonia free glass cleaner at an hardware store for pellet and wood stove glass. 7.99:bottle... I'll stick with what I use haha
