metalbestos information

Hello,

Looking to purchase metalbestos chimney pipe for my upcoming boiler installation. The boiler needs 6" piping.

The pipe will have to be run from the basement, up into a room above it and then out to the exterior. I found some chimney pipe on craigslist that might work, but I wanted to check with folks that are more knowledgeable.

It was used for venting an oil furnace and was run through a chase in the house and through the roof.

He says he is not sure if it is for exterior use, but I think it is. Here is a picture of the tag,

If that didn't work it is a model SSII, it says HT on the tag and it is a 6T 36 model

Will this work for a chimney pipe running outside of the house?

I think codes allow only 1 90* turn in a Class A flue. Sounds like you're planning on 2?

I'm not sure about the 90 part - but as far as the pipe goes, it should be good. From the googling I did, 'HT' = high temp, and good for wood & oil.

That is stainless and is made for outdoor use, I am using that now. You need a two inch clearance from combustibles. Why not go outside from the basement then up with a cleanout tee? FYI look at the connection points, each brand has there own so you will not be able to mix and match, so what ever you get if its not enough you have to use that brand.

Thanks for the information so far. I am still learning and gathering information stage.
I only have one wall in my basement that is not below grade and I wasn't planning on putting the boiler on that wall. I assumed that the metalbestos could not be installed below grade, nor do I really want to put a hole in my foundation for the piping. I was thinking of coming up part of the way into the room above the boiler and then having a 90 degree turn with a through-the-wall kit and a clean out and then continuing up the exterior wall to above the roofline until it terminates at the proper height.
The 2 90's code sounds funny because that would make any exterior stainless chimney no good right?

I don't think so. I think a 'standard' exterior setup would be one 90 - which is actually a T at the bottom of the chimney with a cleanout on the bottom.
