Method / instructions for repair of a Husky 142E

My Husky 142E has a broken handle/gas tank
If I decide to rebuild this saw is there some info/ plan that would help.

Hi Sean
If you are concerned about the health of the saw...
Find a 2 cycle compression tester and see what the reading is.If low pull the muffler and look at the piston,if it is in good shape but low compression get a set of rings for it.
If it has scoring on it then you need to do a treasure/vacuum test to find the air leak.
Any reason you are concerned about the health of the saw? Or just want to make sure it is worth the time and cost of replacing the tank?
If you need you can get a manual to help the tear down.AS or OPE usually has someone that will send you a copy of the manual for your saw.

I havn't taken a 142 apart that i remember,but they all are similar.There will be 3 or 4 AV mounts disconnect the fuel line and wiring and it should wiggle out with a little persuasion.

I did find a 142 in my pile yesterday.The mounts are all removed.I think taking the handle bar off will help to weasel the tank/handle off of the engine.If i get a chance today i will completely remove it and give you some tips.

There are 4 connection points that have AV buffers that the handle bolts to. There is a rubber bushing that isn't held in place that will fall out once you remove the tank.The fuel line and wires will need to be disconnected.Take the top cover off the saw as well.The 4 bolts into the AV bushings are 2 in the front,one is under the chain catcher,and 2 near the top at the rear handle.I cheated a bit.The saw i found had all the AV bushing bolts out already.

Update : ordered a tank/handle of eBay .. Chinese .. I will update when I get the part .

The part showed up , it's orange . It looks close .

It went together ok and I now have a orange saw that works ..

Save your fuel cap,fuel filter and fuel hose before you recycle your old tank.

Caps are different..( Chinese Model ) But already done that.. Cap can be use on my 350..
