With the mild weather we have had, I decided that a sweep might be worthwhile, as we have not had that many really hot fires for a while.
I wondered whether there might be more soot in the flue than there would be had we had really hot fires.
Waking up to a morning temp of 44f meant there was no rush to light up, and sweeping only took about half an hour from the bottom up.
The sweeping was done using the outside soot door installed when we put the stove in, and we only got a cupful of soot out, I had expected more with so many small fires.
This coming weekend we have colder weather forecast, and I'll be happy to pile oak and hawthorn on for some long hot burns without any thoughts of chimney fires....
