Lost my roofing on my wood shed

I had put some tarps on the roof of the wood shed. Temporary until
I got it roofed.

Now that winter is here I guess I need to roof the shed with something other than tarps
But as Temporary goes, it was there Friday & gone Saturday.
We had a wind storm & I lost the tarps.

I built a wood shed to help stop having tarps blow away, DUH!! Laughed at myself pretty good.

Also lost power for 4 days. (love having my wood stove & gen )
Was 27°F last night.
Power back today. Tarps are somewhere ???

Supposed to snow tonight, roofing in the snow will be a PITA, but procrastinators deserve it.
I thought I had a few more weeks before snow. I guess it'll be roll roofing.

Good side is maybe I'll score some wood from all the down trees from the wind storm. (after i roof the shed that is)

Dave, you just spent too much time fishing. Now it is time to get some work done. lol

We've had some really strong winds here as of late. We were gone for a week and when we came home it looked like a tornado went through because of all the downed limbs. Then we had another one a few days ago. And before someone asks, no, none of our wood piles tipped over. You can huff and puff but not blow our stacks down. lol

I assume softer wood and colder temps mean that you go through a S load of wood. Looks really good- roof or not.

I am glad you can laugh about it. But you know time gets away from all of us. I have been lucky that the my 'undone' projects haven't caught up with me. Hey if everything went perfect then we would all get lazy.

Dave, sometimes we need a brick upside the head to "git 'er done", and it sounds like the brick worked.
Hate to see anyone go through all that work, only to have it get messed up for something silly.

What type of roofing? plywood with roll on? why not corrugated? lasts much longer, wasnt much price difference when we loked into it. The alaska part might affect price alot though.

Headed to Lowes to get some roll roofing.
Simple, cheapest & should last 15 years +. Metal roof almost 3X the cost of roll here.( shipping$$$??? I guess)
& After all, it is "just a wood shed", the statement & visual appeal is the wood inside,
who will notice the roof as long as it keeps the wood dry.

I'm tearing down a barn that still has the same (white) roll roofing that was put on when it was built in 1969/70.
It's still in good shape. I wish I could easily roll it back off and roll it back up.
There were a couple cans of the tar used to seal the layers seams stored in the rafter ends, but the can bottoms had rusted and the cans of tar were pretty solid.

Well done! ('bout stinkin' time I might add)- Metal roof in a nice fuscia color would have been the cat's ass, but oh well. :lol: - Honestly, feels good to be 2 years ahead, huh. Great shed.

I had stuff blown all over as well. Most of cords got knocked over actually. Word of advice, don't stack wood between trees.
