That's just another day around here, most go out a living room window of a mobile home with a piece of aluminum replacing the glass. They cut their wood the day they need it.

According to reports this is what started as a chimney fire in Torrington, CT last night

That is sad to see. Looks like class a chimney. I wonder if it was clearances issue. Either way, that too bad

The chimney passes through the soffit. I have seen those spray foamed or just buried in insulation.
But the lack of a cap makes me think they were dealing with creosote problems so maybe a chunk just flew out and lit the roof on fire
