My new stove and pics..

This was thje first yr. buring with my P.E spectrum classic.. When we bought the stove we had no expectaions of it heating our upstairs, we just wanted it for our finished basement which is very cold even in the summer without a/c.. we bascially were not using the gameroom in the winter which is a large area where I like . Our house is a large raised ranch 2500 sq. ft. built like a maze. But we have been suprised at the amount of heat making upstairs with nothing but leaving the door open, so next year might make and effort to move the heat upstairs to help.....The stove has definetly went beyond our expectations..both with the heat output and the overnight burns ease of start ups etc... Ive had always had fireplaces but this is the first woodburner and I am amazed at the differences, we have a fireplace the first floor which is open on both ends not really for heat but nice to have. The stove was installed by a local dealer ..Thanks for looking, Pez

To hustle natural convection try putting a regular 12" table fan at the top of the cellar stairs, pointing downward. Run it on low speed. The idea is to blow the colder upstairs air towards the heat source.

Thanks for the adivice with the fan I will try it ... there is aload of heat sitting in the stairwell going up the steps so just put the fan on low aiming down the steps ? the traps been a definete hit on here.. Thanks again Pez

Yes, the fan will increase the volume of air. The displaced cool air will be replaced by more warm air coming up the stairs. All you are doing it assisting natural convection. It works!

I agree with the fan moving cool air to the stove room. This is the way I do it. When the stove was in the basement I had luck with it. Also try putting a fan at the coldest room doorway pointing toward the stairwell, on low as well. Some people report great success with doorway corner fans directing the hot air out of the stove room as well. I've never tried it in the basement. But if you have a closed stairwell with a large area at the basement side to trap the heat, it may help to get that heat out of there. Then you'll have both sides of the coin covered. Supply and return.

I, on the other hand, love the buck. Head on the wall, woodstove, a trap hanging somewhere I'm sure.... Looks like the beginnings of a 'man cave' to me. :exclaim:

Nice stove, congrats. It must be warm in there with that deer and pig running through the wall to get in!
