I have been periodically checking the price of the NC-30 at HD since i purchased one last February when it was down as low as $649 in my area and even lower some other places.Free shipping incl. Checked about a month ago and it was $899. Today its back to full in season price of $1199. Im planing to buy another one for my wood shop if it goes down that low again. At that price i could replace a much less efficient and much larger stove thats there now. Since i dont use the shop full time i dont want to sink too much into a stove for it.

I'm probably gonna buy two if they go that low again. I'll just store them in my basement until I need them.

Can't speak on how low they'll get but somehow I don't think we'll see the deals we used to. Plate steel has increased in the double digits since last year and pretty much every MFG have had one price increase if not two this year.

I agree with Fyrebug. Dont think you will see those prices again. Steel has gone way up and it seems everything else has also, just terrible times here in the USA. With the market crashing last week and the bickering in Washington, I think were in for a long hard road ahead,,,hope i'm wrong. I also wanted to pick up a NC30 for the garage this winter,,guess its not gonna happen.

I still want one of those 30's......don't know though...the 13 is working out great.....why fix it if it ain't broken?
still curious about a 30....I will not tell the husband that though....one would be arriving this afternoon.....the husband tends to be a bit impulsive.... :grrr:

Id go about $750-$800 tops, Since i already have 1 in a rehab and its only for the workshop. Now if it were for my house id go higher.

IMHO my old Nashua is gonna be a better choice for my shop, I will not be heating it all the time either and it throws out a ton of heat in a short period of time so will get the shop up to temp quicker than a EPA stove. Just something to ponder if you can find an older stove well built for a reasonable price.

My wood shop is under a large apartment i use as a second home so the idea is to heat 2 floors above it as well, the old wood dragon i use now doesnt burn for more than a few hours without refilling so overnight burningis not possible, and it use,s a lot of wood so its wasteful as well

Given the uncertainty in the economy I would get the one from overstock.com now and be happy.

Good point, we may be heading for a period of lower prices on some things due to the slow down of the world economy but no way can you count on that.

If the dollar keeps dropping I would expect Jotuls, Hearthstones and even the China boxes to start increasing in price.

I agree, one reason I bought my chimney pipe last spring, if you have the money and are planning a purchase get it now or you will more than likely have regrets later.

Regular price at a local "hardware" store (and everything under the sun) called Canadian Tire is $1050. Every day. Is it that great of a stove?

Andrew

If you read all the posts about it on this forum you will come to the conclusion it is a steal at that price.

From what I see, it seems to be a good stove.

The price near my place is always that price, never any higher.

I guess if anyone I know if looking for a stove (no stove stores nearby), I will send them that way.

A

IMO is a great stove for the price. It's efficient, large enough to heat most homes, and made with thick steel (though I still hate the baffle!!). Sure there are better stoves out there, but you'll have to spend at least double!

So it seems to be the "best bang for the buck"? I know some people are die hard fans of their own stoves. Heck, I love my stove.

But if I needed to get a second stove, this could be a winner. Especially in "off season" prices.

Andrew

Now its back to $899 AGAIN.THey just cant make up their mind there at HD.

For someone in the Jersey area, that is the "Deal of the Day". W/ Blower and Flue sections.....

As I started to read this thread and came to BeGreens response, I have to totally agree. With the direction the economy seems to be going, it seems wise to make the purchase in anticipation of hard times yet again.
