Can anyone give me some insight on what to look for. This is my first pair.

I got a pair (wraps) from this web site based on input from this forum back in December.... my first pair so I have nothing to compare to. Hopefully, I never get to validate that they work!!! I do feel much safer having them on though. I got the wrap style. Seem to be good quality.

If you search for chaps, there have been several prior threads. Regarding the Labonville chaps, they are made right down the road from me in Gorham NH, so if you want to buy American, they are a good option. They mostly supply professional loggers in the northeast and everything they make is built rugged. As long as you dont run a saw into them and destroy the kevlar, you are not going to wear them out. Be careful on the sizing, the founder of the company must have come from a short family, as the chaps run short. I am 5' 10" and they recomended the talls. The regular lengths are probably best for folks up to 5'3".

Not sure where you are located, but they do have a couple of factory stores, but I dont think there is a lot of cost savings. They do have quite a collection fo logging tools out back at their main shop in Gorham.
