Hello, I'm new here but have been burning wood for several years in my stove. I have an almost unlimited supply of free kiln dried oak blocks. All blocks are 1" thick and vary from 2-6 inches wide and 1-3 inches long. I have been planning to build a wood furnace before this up coming winter and would love to rig up some kind of auto feed to burn these blocks. Or at least some kind of set up where I only have to fill it once or twice a day. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Or even just lumber since that's what it is. They sell it here too and it is cheap. I've thought about buying some for the non-cat in the shop. It should just be really dry and small firewood. The danger seems to lie in that you could stuff your firebox with it and the stove would get too hot too fast and you could have a runaway.
As suggested above, unless you systematically feed the mill ends you will run into control problems regardless of stove design. If they were thicker it would help
I burn loads of small pine cut offs sometimes, I don't have trouble with huffing or anything like that. I believe it's just a matter of air settings. I don't know how you could automate loading though.
