Need to hear voice of reason from my beloved hearth community

  • Active since 1995, Hearth.com is THE place on the internet for free information and advice about wood stoves, pellet stoves and other energy saving equipment.

We strive to provide opinions, articles, discussions and history related to Hearth Products and in a more general sense, energy issues.

We promote the EFFICIENT, RESPONSIBLE, CLEAN and SAFE use of all fuels, whether renewable or fossil.
Do you suppose there is enough room for back to back inserts? One pellet/gas and one wood? Separate liners up the huge masonry flue.

There first new house and that 70 vintage fire place is what sold them on the place. Now you say spend a lot of money and make it into a one sided metal box. We all know it's what you could do to get some real heat out of it. But do they care or want to heat with wood? Give them a few years.

This is kinda tongue in cheek...but at the same time, look how many people have bought that "fireplace" DVD for their TV!
Put in the insert of choice...aim HD cam at stove front...have cam wired to a flat screen TV inset on the other side of the fireplace ;) :p ==c ;hm

Electronics do not particular react favorably to being toasted like marshmallows.;lol
