washington state
Hello
I am new Here and have been doing tons and tons of research on this great site and just have a few questions.
First off I am in Washington state temps in winter can very from 0-45 degrees in winter time. My house is 1600 square feet and my backyard buts up against the national Forest so I have all the pine and tamarack I can cut. (With a permit of course)
I have a small zero clearance fire place right now and want to put in either a lopi answer or quad Voyager insert.( these are the brands of my 2 local stove shops and I like to support our local businesses) I have read that some people have problems with the quad and controlling the air as well as the start up procedure. The lopi seems to have a shorter burn time according to some post. I am not looking to heat the entire house 24/7 but more supplement the furnace and try and save some $$$. I am just looking for some thoughts and opinions from you guys and to help me think of what I have not thought of yet.
Thanks for your help

Being in washington I would be looking at blaze kings, but take that with a grain of sand since I bought one even tho I'm way over in the midwest.

Just put in Voyaguer Grand. So far so good everything works just like quad says it will. Use top down fire start. I load it up at 10 pm, next morning at 5:30 good coal bed load up again, set acc, and in about 30 minutes wife pushes down burn control. Good to go for another 7 or 8 hrs. My wood is 2 to 3 yrs old. 16ft flue with roxul at top and bottom and block off plate at bottom.
