Just landed this from CL... Decent price so was useless to resist and had to grab it.

Hoping to use it to heat my garage workshop. Roughly a 30x30 room, large leaky sliding barn door, no insulation. Will be rebuilding the door and adding insulation in the spring and tightening things up considerably.

Wondering how well its going to work if I don't park it right in the center of the room. Obvious place for it is at the back of the shop, but that's a good 25' away from where I'd spend most of my time at my benches.

It might be a bit small to heat a shop if the ceiling is high and uninsulated. What is the condition of the baffle and side plates in the firebox? If excellent it might be worth cleaning up and reselling for a profit so that you can get a stove with a larger firebox. In good condition it should bring about $600.

baffle and side plates are in decent condition. ever so slight bend to the plates, and no cracks. I can always make up some new plates if i need to, have access to a plasma cutter and welder.

Paid $250 so that would be a decent profit.

What should I be looking for? I plan on tightening up the building considerably this spring. I'll If i do install it.. it only needs to warm the place up a bit.
I'll try and take some pics of the space today. This thing seems to fit the budget.

For a good shop stove I would be looking for an Englander 30NC on a spring clearance sale at Home Depot.

Here is the workshop... I was thinking I could hang a tarp over that open space up to the loft to keep the heat down.

The plates look to be in decent condition. Is the front of the baffle broken off?

Definitely tarp or tent off the loft with some plastic. An uninsulated space is going to suck up heat.
