Hi to all - new to wood burning stoves. Likely to be more of a "weekend warrior" and ambiance burner, at least initially. Looking for enamel stove. Saw some nice Vermont Casting stoves, but have read some so, so reviews. About 2200 sq. feet. Looking for recommendations to help me get started. Can provide some additional details that I am currently be oblivious to that might help guide recommendations. Thanks in advance for any input!

The Hearthstone Shelburne or Manchester have an enameled option. The PE Alderlea T5 and the Blaze King Ashford are also available in enamel. For the usage described, the Alderlea would be the simplest to manage.
Thanks for the input! I really like the Shelburne and had thought about that so this provides some reassurance there. If we decide to move enamel down the list of priorities, other suggestions for the use described?
Agreeing with stoveliker, I would suggest a non-cat stove for this use. The BK and Hearthstones are catalytic. There are several possibles. I forgot to mention the Jotul F45 which is a good looking cast iron jacketed stove like the Alderlea.
As far as options and stove size, it depends on how open the stove room is to the rest of the house, ceiling height, and budget. You are in a cold climate so going a bit oversize is probably a good idea, but maybe not if the room is closed off from the rest of the house by doorways or long hallways.

OP, what other sources of heat do you have in your home? You may decide "at least initially" should be part of your decision. If the costs for your other sources of heat are a consideration, you may wish to keep that in mind.
When I got my first wood stove, I was nervous about burning overnight. As time went by, within 3-4 months, I decided wood heat would become my default all winter long.

If one is working full time, nights and weekends burning makes sense, especially if the primary heating system is in good order and efficient.
Do you have any pics by chance? Been looking at this very stove in this color combo.

Thanks to all for the terrific feedback! This has been extremely helpful. We are hoping to move to a final decision by early next week to star the install.
BKVP - we have gas as well. Total sq footage is around 2700. Could certainly see burning as a primary source of heat become the default after I build confidence with the system and safety. Does that change recommendations at all?
The PE Super Classic and Vista look awesome. I still feel like ascetically the Shelburne has the lead, but I want to end up with a great stove in the event we move to burning more aggressively through winter. When we were shopping for a stove 23 years ago, my wife saw the Jotul Oslo forest green enamel. That was was the one. What a flawless finish. It's the focal point in our weekend cabin. I don't think you should be cooking with pots on the stove.
My in laws have the Jotol Oslo - would LOVE if they finished it in a forest green enamel currently.
In a turn of events, we might settle on a traditional. And are thinking to use the stove more for heating than ambiance. 2200 sq feet. Other recommendations with that in mind? I will post a new thread shortly because this one is probably getting a bit stale.

The Vermont Castings enamel stoves are good looking, but tough to run them properly. I swapped out my VC Encore for a blazeking Ashford at the end of this winter and couldnt be happier, its so much easier to run and while it doesnt have blue enamel, its still a real good looking stove.
