I was tiring to get a red pedestal for my cast iron water container that goes on top of my wood stove. The guy that runs the local stove shop told me that they are no longer making red wood stoves or things that go on stoves. He said the process that makes the red enamel on cast iron is too poisonous. Is this true? No more red stoves? And if so is the red cast iron stove that my buddy has stored in his basement (came with the house and he doesn’t burn) worth more then it used to be?

Sounds like a classic case of someone making up facts to fill in a void of knowledge they don't have. PE makes a red stove ant it looks NICE. I'm quite certain there are other manufacturers that make one too.
