I just bought one a month ago from Harbor Freight. It was on sale for $99 and I had a 20% off coupon. I bought 2 wheels and mounted them at the base because the wheels supplied with the splitter are of no use. Without the addition I added, you would have to drag the splitter around and it can be quite heavy. It will split wood, however, but at a slower pace than a maul. I am pretty new to this log splitting business, but I have really enjoyed having some help with my bigger logs instead of using an axe and maul on them.

I have one that I bought online. It works pretty good. I've split some fairly large rounds on it. It's slow but will give you a good upper body workout! Shop around and try to find one with free shipping like I did. Still paid $150. Got mine from Meijer.com
 
I would spend the 150 more and get the electric one from lowes...
