Round my house if have little room to store and proces wood.
So I buy Kiln Dried pellets containing 2 m3 meters tightly stacked oak, that's about 2/3 of a cord. The price is afwful at 175 Dollars but is bone dry.
For only 10% more I get Ironwood. I weighed a dry piece and measured the volume. It comes out thatthe ironwood is about 25% heavier for the same volume.
Also, because a lot of the oak pieces contain lightweight bark, they dont stack so tight.
I guess the pellet containing the ironwood is at least 30% heavier. So I get more wood for my money and I can store more in my garden.
Should I only buy Ironwood then.
It burns fine in my Oslo, and for the warm days you simply take a couple small splits, then burn excellent and hot.
