Just a shout out to Chestnut Oak. It's quickly becoming my favorite wood to burn. Until this year, I've not burn this oak but I know it's in the White Oak family. In 2017 a hurricane blew down two Chestnut Oaks on property near me. In 2020, I cut, split and stacked it. This winter it's 80% of what I'll burn. It burns fantastic, hot, long lasting and I have good coals up to 12 hours later. I generally scrounge for all my wood so I burn what mother nature provides in dead or dying trees or what comes from CL ads. Most of what I burn is Post Oak, White Oak, Red Maple, Sweetgum and Hickory but this Chestnut Oak is just outstanding!
