Question:

I just recently bought an older sierra insert for my prefab fireplace. The dimensions all look o.k. but I do not have a hearth in front of the fireplace. Can this still be installed?

Answer:

First of all, the exact model you purchased must be approved for installation into a prefab. I doubt that it, since these insert are primarily radiant and might cast too much heat on the face, etc.
