Great Garden soil ?Some of his woods looks like a big compost pile.
It sure made it easier when the original owner made trails so you could get to every part of the property, still have lots of thinning to do, I'll never finish it in my life. The pics of your woodlot is how I want mine to look one day. We have very few areas that you can actully see any distance between the trees.
I started one up top, the lower part has a few with more to come.Nice pic.
Do you have a place for rotten logs, like a compost pile ?
Which part is some? Some of his woods looks like a big compost pile.

hard to tell Zappy, but it has to either be sugar or silver maple. I'm leaning towards sugar maple, based solely on your geography......hard to tell from the pics. What are your thoughts on what type of Maple it is.
Once the wind calms down I'll make my way up top to this stuff, if it's good I'll cut it up. With the winds we had last night I'll check some hills for more downed trees.hard to tell Zappy, but it has to either be sugar or silver maple. If the wood is hard and dense, that'd be the deal-sealer. If its really soft, probably silver.
It's a big 'un.....
Chilly legs.I took off my pants . . . I wonder what that will bring me?
Looks like today will be a great day in the woods, had a dusting of snow last night with the temps dropping to the low 20's. The sun is out today with the temps heading to the low 40's, I'll make my way to this downed maple, if it's good then I'll buck it up.Some of his woods looks like a big compost pile.
