Hi, i have been living in this home for little over a year now that has an old WG100 newmac furnace which I believe is a wood burning furnace?

I Have uploaded some pictures of the unit which has had the ductwork taking apart. All the duct for the house was originally used by this unit which has been changed over to a regular furnace.

Id like to know if this could still be used i really know nothing about these but would like some help. The switch on the side still turns on.

I will guess that it was removed because of insurance
Personally i wouldn't use it in a house,maybe a shop.
But i built my heating system so i would have no flame source in my home.

Wood/Coal furnace. Maybe the coal supply became more difficult to obtain? It looks like it would be an inefficient wood burner.

You will need a separate flue if keeping the fossil furnace for back up.
If switching back to wood only have a professional chimney service inspect the chimney before use.
If oil furnace is in use you cannot use the same flue at all with masonry flue tile with out stuffing a liner in first.

I have a WB100 furnace, which is the wood only version. Mine doesn't have grates. It's been reliable and it will put out some serious heat, but it's definitely not very efficient.
