Bought a house with this in the family room. I'm curious if anyone can confirm this as a real Fisher. There are no other markings on it other than what is cast into the front. The stovepipe comes right out the top. There is a 76 inside of a star cast in the door on the right side.

Welcome to the Forum;
1976 Grandma. The first post of this thread gives the details of the double door Fireplace Series;
https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/fisher-grandma-and-grandpa-bear-details-fireplace-series.69448/

Top vent was designed to go straight up to a ceiling support box or connect the way yours does. The rear vent is for through the wall or in front of a fireplace with the connector pipe going up the existing chimney. The manual for your model is the first pre-1980 that includes all 5 unlisted models in the same manual. (in the sticky section at top of Fisher Forum page)

Only the Grandpa had the taller fir trees as found on earlier stoves with branches apart as shown below. Grandma had the later shorter trees and never matched Grandpa. The following year all trees were like yours and matched.
You can tell the difference by the space between trees at the door seam.

Grandpa eBay 1-2013.jpg Later Grandpa with your type trees. (Probably '77 - by '78 draft caps and springs were a later style until old stock was used up) Notice how far apart the trees are on the wider stove.

Your white chalk like discoloration is from excessive heat. Closing the air intakes more before allowing it to get that hot prevents the paint from discoloring. Some paint is more susceptible than others. Try to stick with Stove Bright Satin Black for longer paint life and for the original color.
