hi guys, moved back to Scotland from Oklahoma. it's a LOT cooler over here. We're living in a Victorian cottage, three feet thick walls, single pane windows, draughts everywhere. In the hearth was a Carron no.26 victorian hob grate fireplace. complete with side oven. well, the previous owner had taken away a big bit of the chimney above the hearth, and so the draw was not really good enough. as a result, the room filled with smoke a hell of a lot of the time. had enough of smoking the kids, so have invested in a Saltfire boiler woodstove, which will be plumbed in to the central heating system which at present is kerosene. the price of kerosene keeps going up, so hopefully this woodstove with integral boiler will make heating the house a lot cheaper. it's rated at 16 kw. I've been collecting and splitting wood already! back in OK i had an Osburn woodstove and loved to watch the fire burn inside, and smell the smoke outside. here's a pic of the hob grate for you.
