Recently (18 months) replaced my distribution fan with this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DSMC870/?tag=hearthamazon-20
Everything I read seemed to indicate it was an exact replacement.
Looked exactly the same, same numbers, installed perfectly.
But from day one it would get noisy whenever the stove was cooling down.
When running at full - it runs pretty quiet.

I currently run in stove temp mode, blower set to full..

Did I just get a bad unit?
Did I get a counterfeit unit?
Did I get the wrong unit? (Or is there a newer better one avaiable)

Any thoughts appreciated.

That's the exact OEM replacement. When you say noisy, what do you mean?

Here is what it sounds like normal

And if it is running out of pellets - it is about twice as noisy (next time it runs out, I will record that one)

Well that is certainly irritating! Hope you find a solution.

That is a strange soun (but will not buy fromAmazond. When you change blower speed manually, does it go away?

Well it was only doing it when shutting down - ..
But since you brought this up
I normally run it on Manual - Fan Full
I just tried turning the fan down a bit and the sound started

It appears it makes that sound whenever the fan is not running full..

I do remember reading somewhere that some of the none OEM fans were only designed to operate at one speed.
Which is why I wondered if this was a counterfeit unit?

I may just replace it (But will not buy from Amazon this time,)

Well I would say it is not and exact replacement, just an acceptable replacement.I believe the harman fan is made by fasco, not dayton, ant I think it has ball bearings, not sleeve bushings. On electric motor warehouse, they list your blower as "not recommended for speed control".A/C motors built for speed control have different windings. This is why cheaper ceiling fans hum at lower speeds. You can go to Mountain View and purchase either blower, but the dayton can be purchased elsewhere cheaper, such as amazon. That noise would drive me the rest of the way crazy.
