I have a chance to score some oak 4x4 pipe line pallets but they have a little paint over spray on them. I don't want to hurt the environment or my stove, so do you think I need to remove it or I would be ok burning it? Sorry no pictures.
I think the consensus is don't burn treated wood - pressure treated, painted, varnished, etc. Who knows what toxins are in what you are burning? Cheers!
I work on a pipe crew for a living. Those waterline 4x4s are great to burn. Almost all are oak. Every now and then you get a board that is entirely covered with the pipe coating. I leave those behind.
I picked up a couple of pipeline pallets. They measure 4" x 5" x 8' smells like oak. I was hoping to get some ready to burn wood but the moisture reading was 33%. I still hope to get some of the wood I'm just less excited about it.
