I have a shot load of unused wood paneling sitting around. Could I cut this up and use it in my insert. Would it be harmful to anything?

Throw it in the trash but don't burn it in the stove.

might be a bit of glue in it that may or may not be safe to burn, especially if it is real cheap @%$# that is just a photograph on the surface.

Lots of chemicals in paneling.

You might be able to get a few serviceable years out of them on your stacks as solid top covers under a tarp.

I wouldn't burn it in my woodstove.

What kind of paneling??

Cedar plank, fiber board, pine?? Finished or unfinished??/

I vote top covering material rip 4x8 sheets in half - they'll work till they disintegrate and can be smashed into the trash can or bonfire from a distance
