As usual been waiting to pull trigger on my 6 tons to see my choices and as usual, limited choices in Dutchess - best bet for me is Barefoots I think . Here is what I have found :

Tri-County - GAP - $229 NEP / Energex $269 /Barefoots $279
Lowes Pok - AWF / Natures Own / Green Supreme $220 // Greene Team $ 274 (ouch)
HD Southeast - Stove Chow $220 (not sure if they deliver to POK area
HD Pok (by Marist) Greene Supreme - didnt even ck price - walked away
Ashleighs Green Gold $300 - no delivery
True Value Lignetics $275 & $50 / ton delivery - Yikes
Page - Not stocked yet - supposedly Powerhouse (rebagged GAPS - no thanks)
AllCounty - Allegheny $250 - not sure about this pellet

I would love to see Turmans / Okies / Spruce Pointe - but they just do not show up around here.

Yup. BT Enterprise is closest house. Great folks, but long drive. All County are they the folks on RT.9 in Fishkill ? They had Allegheny last few years. They are an OK pellet. I scored on some Dry creeks last year in Millerton at the Agway. We have alot of pellets, just not the good stuff. Waiting on Somersets, not gonna get many up here this year according to Lowes.

Yes - All County on Rt 9 - think they might deliver for free - which might take some of the sting out of a lower quality pellet - but why bother. I have no hope of Somersets making it up Lowes this year - or atleast I am afraid to hold out. I will call Agway today - though I don't know if they deliver. Not sure what the TSC stores are stocking either

Its still early but i know what you mean. lignetics at william tell in hopewell.

I would try to find Presto Logs if you could. I had those and Somersets sat year and I would swear the burned hotter than the sets.

I'd burn Prestos again if I could get them here; $220 ain't bad. What about the Barefeet? Never burned 'em but they are supposed to be real hot, if a bit ashy - maybe your stove is ok with ash.

I'd try the Barefoots.not too worried about the ash. Just dont know if they are hotter than the Hamers. If someone could tell me they are as hot or hotter I would try them. Don't think the place I could get the Barefoots at would sell by the bag.

Pulled trigger on the Barefoots - best pellet I have burned besides Somersets. I will put my shopping to rest for the season. Tractor Supply in Amenia has Purefires for $240 ton - they don't deliver though - might be best deal out there right now.

You get the Barefoots from Tri county coal?

Sounds like around home here I can only get the softies from one place and the rest are well ho hum big box stuff and empire pellets so. I want the soft currans but 286.00 a ton...going to have to dig into the wallet a bit!!!

Been Traveling all around Dutchess County (and nearby) in the past week and here is what I have found:

TSC Amenia - Pure Fire, Insta- Heat & Green Supreme $232 Appeared to have 300+ tons!
TSC Highland - Lignetics, Insta-Heat & Green Supreme $232
TSC Patterson - TSC Premium Pellets, Green Supreme, O'Malleys & Insta-Heat $232
Lowes Poughkeepsie - Green Supreme, Presto-Logs, Nature's Own & AWF $219
HD Poughkeepsie - Green Supreme $209
HD Fishkill - Fireside Ultra & Stow Chow $209

Plan to make some calls this week to Ashleigh's and Agway and then make my decision!

Lowes at least up my way (Binghamton NY) has two prices, one for standard pellets and one for premium. Presto-logs are premium and were $282/ton. Timber Heat were the standard at $4.19 per bag when you buy a ton. Per bag price was $4.39. I'd make sure that this is not the case for any of the other Lowes in NYS and not assume that just because they have several brands on the ground that they are all priced the same.

I was just going to write in about the lignetics at TSC in Highland . Those and the Presto-logs at Lowes look good. Keep an eye out for the Sets at Lowes. Only a few trucks coming locally to the Hudson Valley from Kentucky this year, and they go FAST when they arrive !!

Called Somerset. They tell me the closest location is either Buffalo or Rome in NYS. Trucking runs 2K to ship to eastern NY.

Bought Currans for 235/ton west of Albany.

Turman Pellets $279 from (broken link removed to http://www.greenheatinc.com/Pellets.html) just west of Duchess County on the west side of the Hudson river .

I bought a ton of the TH....I burned about 10 bags last winter and liked them. They are re-bagged Dry Creek. The $209/ton is a good price.

Kingston NY Lowes had a lot of the presto log last week when I was in there
