Right now home depot is priced at 239 last year they were 209. Should i wait a little while to see if they drop or do you think that price is here to stay.

I have 0 pellets right now

BUY!!!! There are already places running low. Get your entire season's worth.

OMG BUY!!! There are 3 major suppliers here in the 'western half' of CT who do have some brands of pellets available, but have already sold out of many other brands - all have price increases over last year! (I paid $275/ton for Barefoot in December last year - I see one of the big guys asking $329/ton now in mid-September) Wait at your own risk!

I would buy for the season if you've got the bucks and the space.

HD was at $249. I bought from another retailer last year for $185 on sale and this years preseason sale is $225 Just humped a ton to the basement with another to go after supper.

Wow!!! $249 for a HD pellet brand.... everyone should be buying now!

Buy as much as you have room/funds for. Pellets will last for next year too....

I would love to say... stop by my house in January and see for yourself how comfortable the entire house feels burning my type of pellets in my stove.... but then you'll be waiting a long time for your stove (or the install if you have tons of snow on the roof - I don't believe anyone is going up on a ladder to install your lining if that was the picture) and pellets will be in short supply (or not available if this winter is like last winter). But as you can see even with this thread, people are happily confirming what I have already stated. I know from stove purchase, to delivery, to install + 4-5 tons of pellets delivered is a lot to spend on faith ($5,000 - $6,000)... but look around on here and see what you find. Maybe you live near someone who had a similar type of stove and could easily be bribed with six pack and a friendly chat :) (I'm a Crown Royal man if you're in my neck of the wood btw lol)

Walmart in Sanford is 210 for MWP. Not sure where you are in Maine.

Pretty much everyone has price jumps this year, so I really don't think they'll drop as we get closer to heating season. Grab pellets when you can find them, my local Lowes has been stocking them for months now and can't keep them in stock. Most people are buying earlier this year so it's harder to find them (especially at a good price).
As a tip though, try finding a Lowe's coupon to use at Home Depot on pellets. They'll usually accept them and that'll knock 10% off, which brings prices around last years.

No pellets at the local HD last night!

If you have no pellets no point in waiting you need to buy now. You can "gamble" if you have some on hand but you need to buy some or be cold.

I'll sell you bags of Okanagan DF at $10 each if you're in a bind. >>

I am only 3 season pellet burner and I have never seen prices go down during the heating season. Some folks are already talking about pellet shortages so if you find some get 'em as Bio just confirmed. Prices are usually lower off season - prepare then if you can.

Ok i just called my local home depot they say they only have MWP at 219

Walmart said they have a Premium Wood Pellet for 197

Any idea what walmart is selling, i asked and he said the bag says wood pellet fuel institute lol

I know sometimes Home Depot gets in Fire Side Ultras

I already have a Pellet Boiler i have the Harman Pb105 this will be my second season with it I heated my house on $1600 worth of pellets last season. Using oil it would of cost me that much each month

I have burned a few bags of MWP and they threw heat but I found them a little ashy. You should put your stove in your Sig. There are many member/stove combinations with experience burning a great many pellets. Some stoves get heartburn with certain pellet brands...
Given your situation I would go with the MWP. Not a bad pellet IMO.

Here in Long Island NY the bulk of the pellet supply is just beginning to appear on the sales floor. Usually they have good supply to November. The wild card is how many people are buying early this year because of last year. And this fall season is already cooler so that may trigger more buying. Will stores stock up for it?

Certainly if you don't have any, buy some soon.

I'm all about saving money, but even if pellet prices go down, what's the most savings you're going to get $100 at best on the whole deal if you're lucky? I know $100 is $100 and I want that extra cash in my pocket but you're talking about heating your home and keeping your family warm. A small premium on cash when you're already saving over electric and oil by what is likely a substantial amount. The old Wall Street saying applies "Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered." I think most of the Pellet Pigs around here would tell you they're fat and happy currently without worry.

Unless their dirt cheap and you can use them for soaking up spills etc. Broke open another bag yesterday an are about 10% fines!

Unless you have an awesome stove the burns any ole junk Pennington sucks! My stove hates and won't burn em worth anything

OMG someone else on other thread says he uses his Penningtons for oil spills in the garage lol. I'm a believer in getting the BETTER pellets, not just any pellets

I bought a couple bags of whatever Lowes had to use in the bottom of my rabbit's cage.
