Pellet stove accessories

I installed the 52i 2 weeks ago and have it dialed right in! I have a quick question, I plan on doing a good cleaning on it next week just to get to know it more or less. I'm not sure what tools and other tricks of the trade accessories that all should include in a pellet stove. I remember some one posting about needing a brush to clean out the exhaust and such.. any thing I should put in the shopping cart? Thanks in advance.

10pc Linteater at Lowes, and other places. ~$40 electric leaf blower, a 3" to 4" rubber gasket, PowerSmith ash vac. Not in that order, get the ash van, and lint eater first. The leaf blower is if you're adventurous.

You might want to get a gasket scraper (available at Sears) in a convenient size to scrape the burn pot. Does a great job for me.

My pellet stove tool box contains the following: * A wearable LED headlamp to better see the insides. * A soft 3"- 4" paint brush for brushing the insides (remember to turn on the exhaust fan when doing this). * I use the Harman supplied scraper and a screwdriver for carbon buildup. * A 1" long nail to clean the burn pot holes. * A 1/4" soft bristle paint brush to brush fan blades. * Rags for wiping hands/glass/stove top. * Pliers to loosen the wing-nuts on the burn-pot clean-out cover. * Appropriate sized wrenches/ratchets for loosening/tightening any bolts/nuts. * I use the pellet stove Sooteater for exhaust vent. * I also use a wet-vac with a HEPA filter for vacuuming. However I rarely vacuum inside the stove (except when final spring cleaning). I only vacuum the loose ash that gets outside the stove. I thoroughly brush everything to the ash pan. When cleaning the ash pan area I brush the loose ash into a dust pan.

My pellet stove tool box contains the following:

My Pellet Stove Tool Kit: In order of importance
Cleva Ash Vacuum
Nitrile gloves to keep hands clean
Simple paint scraper
1/4" drive ratchet and any sockets I have used on the stove

Occasional use items:
Chimney brush with 4' flexible shaft
Home made test wire for blower and auger motors
Cylinder hone for pellet feed tube annual cleaning
4" wire wheel on grinder to clean wear plate

Future items to purchase:
Leaf Blower/Vac to suck out all the areas I cannot reach. Stay tuned for my idea on this one...

Jeez all I use 90% of the time is the 5/16 nut driver....


The nitrile gloves are a great idea as I look at my dirty fingernails.

whats everyone using to clean the outside of there stove, my harman insert has a textured outside so I'm finding lint being left over from a rag/towel ect... Ideas?

I use Pledge w/ rag on my cast iron Lopi Leyden.
