Even with oil at $2.05 per gallon, the pellets I bought at $234 per ton are still a tad cheaper.

Wood Pellets
Cost per ton in dollars
$261.40
Appliance Efficiency 80%
Cost per million BTU=$19.92

Fuel Oil #2
Cost per gallon in dollars
$2.02
Appliance Efficiency 80%
Cost per million BTU=$18.30

Oil wins for price, BUT I already have the pellets.

We have a calculator here also:

I tried to be pretty accurate, but circumstances differ. It would not be too far out to say that an org whose mission it is to promote pellets might tend to favor one side of the equation, just like those promoting other fuels (oil, electric, etc.) always give the best case.

It is good to consider that your mileage may vary.

You have the fuel calculator here but where the heck is the link?

I know you posted it here but where is the link listed on this forum?

It is one the info articles in the main article section - there are too many links and documents to link them all to one page!

this link is on one of the other pages of this forum but can't find it right now.
