Perforated SS Tubing as Baffle

Hello!
I have a very simple stove, all it has is a baffle to force flame 'up' for some recovery before it goes down and enters the stove pipe.
Even with the stovepipe damper closed, I'm amazed the heat pouring out the chimney 20' + up 🙁

I came across this old video, it makes sense and functioned (he was quite extensive in his documentation)

- fire won't go thru screen.
Any experience?
I bought some SS perforated tubing off eBay and am now looking at installing it, as the cold is coming!

I'm interested in people's thoughts on the perforated baffle.

There's near 6' of pipe going to the chimney, and the chimney is just a house chimney.
I just moved it, and cut a vent over it in the floor.

I'm interested in people's thoughts on the perforated baffle.

I don't particularly like the perforated stainless idea. It's a leaky sieve that looks like most of the air would enter the firebox at the air entry point(s). A secondary tube, with properly sized and spaced holes would seem to be more uniformly and evenly efficient. I'd also consider extending the baffle more forward, maybe by creating a shelf that stops a few inches before the door? Is the firebox firebrick lined?

I have a stove that may be perfect for adding secondary burn. I was about to buy a PE Summit, but decided to look into this mod first. The stove has a blower that feeds air through a manifold of welded pipe in the top. It seems like I could weld the ends of the pipes shut and drill a bunch of holes on the inside. The way the stove is shaped should make this work if I understand the process. A lot of hot gasses are trapped in the top section. The air blows through the manifold and out of the ends of the pipes. I’m retrofitting my old Lopi FL from the 80s and want to add a secondary burn and chimney liner. Any comments from the forum are most welcome. Outside surfaces will be painted with fireplace paint after modifications.
