After seeing comments that gassifiers really need dry wood, I was a bit worried what I have might not work well in my new build. So I spent the $20 on a cheap meter, and it arrived today.

I had time to check some of the wood in the garage that I brought up unsplit from the barn, and was relieved to see its all mainly reading 14-15% after being freshly split.

The wood I tested is from loads of logs bought this spring, I do have some from last spring still in the barn. I also have a few cords split/stacked that has been in the barn for a few months I need to check.

Overall happy I spent the $20, neat gadget.
