Pics of my wood shed

I built this a month or so ago against the south wall of my pole barn, which I also use to store firewood as well.

Starting out with four 4x4's 8' above their respective concrete bases:


First two bays header board installed:


Starting to install the joists. The reason the last header board isn't installed is that I didn't get enough of those galvanized attachments (you can see on clearly in the top center of the pic above). Since I live in the sticks (about 25 miles from the nearest HD), I decided to continue work and get the part later.

The joists are 2x6x10' with the vertical 4x4's at 9' from the pole barn posts. Length is right at 21'. I should be able to get about 9 cords +/- under cover.

All header boards, joists and purloins installed.

Ok final pics.

Roof on! I had to get help from my daughter's boyfriend to help with the roof. He is the one that went up and did the majority of the screw work on top, I did the ones near the bottom that I could reach with the 8' ladder. I don't do roofs.



And the side boards, 4"x4" fencing on the sides and the wood base installed! The wood base are repurposed deck rails (you can see one on the extreme right) that I took off our deck and replaced with SS cable railing. You can also see that I used leftover 1x4's for part of the base.

Here I have about 3/4's of a cord of Butternut Hickory already S&S. That one rack installed will hold right at 2 cords when full (probably a little more since I'll be stacking a little above 6').

Ok final pics.

How's that fence wire working as a retainer ?
I'm thinking of using chain link fence but is likely overkill.

bill, it works and it's cheap and easy to install. I'm more worried about the 2x6s bowing out. I may have to support them somehow, didn't realize they would be under that much stress.

That's nice, I bought that same hardware to do mine, hopefully it makes it stronger and easier to build.
Even with the racks I made I found it's better to cross stack the ends to take pressure off the sides.
