I would like to add protection between Grandma and the hearth for peace of mind. It would be about 3” below the stove held up by clamps on the legs, red line in picture shows the approximate location. Can I use 1/2” Hardiboard cement board or should I use a metal plate….. The 1.25” granite under the stove gets hot when using the stove. Also under the 1.25” granite is 2 layers of 1/2” Durock cement board. Under the Durock is 5/16” plywood, under that is 1” pine boards.

@coaly can probably help you out with any and all questions about the Fisher stoves. He has a great thread that is a must read for Fisher stove owners.
