Hello
I am looking to pick a used Pacific Energy T5 and I had doing a used one for $2500. Does anyone know if 2015 T5 would be worth the money? It is in perfect working order with no issues. I know a knew one would be double that price.

That seems high. But if it’s in really good shape and you know you want a T5. It could run another 10-15 years asa full time heater. But if a new one lasts twice that long did you save anything?

Seems high for an almost 10 year old stove. I would try and haggle him down to $2k if your really set on a T-5.

I’ve been looking around at the used stove market lately and there are some really insane prices out there but they must be selling because the new stove market is crazy high as well.

We're entering the heating season and with it, stove prices can get silly. $2500 is more than what the stove cost back in 2015. It's a supply and demand thing. If the stove is in great condition then I'd offer $1800 and walk away if the offer is refused.

Do you have pictures of the stove ? I’ll give him $1,500 because for $2,500 you can get a brand new one.

A new T5 is more like $2700+ these day and over $3k if enameled. Stove prices jumped up a lot during the pandemic.

and no tax credit on the T5 right? That effectively makes the stove cost 30% more than the competition.

Let me correct that for you. They're also less expensive and easier to maintain, then some competition.

That’s not a correction but an addition and I agree.

Talking CAD bucks. $2500 CAD is about $1850 USD.

Having just bought a 4 year old Super LE also in Ontario, that seems a little high unless they have replaced a few things recently. They were asking $2500 as well so it must be a popular starting price. I got it for $2400 with about $400 worth of extras thrown in also 3 people and a tractor to help load included. There is a Guy in Dundas that refurbishes them and lists them on Kijiji just to compare prices. Not sure how old his units are or how well treated.

Actually it's more than that. Just traveled to Vancouver Island, BC to buy one because I saved about $1,000 over getting it in Washington state. Paid $3,726.66 U.S. dollars for the enameled T5. Was getting quotes of around $5,000 closer to home. That's without a fan kit. The dealer through in the cold air intake for free, which was kind of him.

Must say it's a great stove though. We've been using it for about a month now. Easy to start, easy to operate, very efficient. Had a Blaze King Ashford 30 before, also enameled. Also a beautiful stove but way harder to operate and much more finicky. No more cat stoves for me. Really happy with the Anderlea.

I don't know how folks are going to afford new stoves these days.
I'm glad it's working out well after a long saga of issues. Hope you have a very warm and comfortable winter with the new stove.

Thanks. It is crazy expensive, especially with a stove that doesn't qualify for a tax break. But it's working well (I'm sitting near it now) and I thank you for your assistance, which has been so helpful throughout this process.

(Didn't log in for a while because I can't get in under my old account. So finally I created a new one. Efforts to email someone at hearth.com proved futile, as no one responded. Is there someone who should be made aware of these challenges?)

Peace of mind = priceless. Post a review and some pics later on in winter once you've had a chance to try it out in a variety of conditions.

I'm happy to do that. Here are a few from the first burn.

By the way, no kidding on the peace of mind. We had a blackout last night. Was great knowing that the stove was there, pumping heat into our home through the night. I did wake up once to reload. The only upside of the Ashford was that it could easily burn for 12+ hours. This one does maintain coals through the night, so the morning restart is easy, but the heat output drops way off. I imagine a T6 would have gone a long way to addressing that, given the larger box. But I'm super happy with this T5. It's well suited to our current needs (2800 square foot house with open floor plan, used as a backup when mini-splits become ineffective due to super cold conditions or power outage).

Looks beautiful. With practice, you'll get a lot longer burns by packing the firebox full and tightly with thick splits and smaller ones filling in the gaps.

There were a ton of outages due to yesterday's storm. Is your power back on?

Yes, it came back on around 9 this morning. How about you?

We dodged the bullet this time. There were lots of outages just east of us up and down the I5 corridor. I think it was up to about 1/2 million homes by around midnight.

I spoke too soon. My power is out again. Right now, I'm running a generator.
Hopefully that's a good sign that they are making permanent repairs now in the area.
