I have a Cerona 42 gas fireplace from Heat & Glo. Just noticed the wall control panel is no longer lit and nothing happens when pushing any of the buttons (dead). Unit is about 5 years old and rarely used. Do these items go bad or is there a simple fix I may be missing? I believe it is a WSK-MLT with Heat & Glo name on it.

They do go bad. My neighbor has one on his 17 year old 6000 TR-X
& is on his 3rd WSK-MLT.
Make sure all wires are connected & have continuity from the switch to the fireplace.
