Purchasing used Lopi Revere

I have viewed a few threads on used stoves and even the Lopi Revere around here but wanted to get your alls thoughts on what I am looking at. I will be purchasing a used wood stove insert and yesterday came across a used Lopi Revere at a local shop that just came in and was going to be resold. The price after cleaning paining and new door gasket is going to be $600 and that is with no blower, does this seem like a fair price?

I like this stove because of the flat top that comes out farther then most inserts and since I'm buying used selection is limited. From what the sticker said on the stove it looks like it was made in 06. I have read good things about these stoves and if I purchase it now I will not install for about 2 more months. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

That is a reasonable price if the reconditioning is done well. Attention should also be paid to the condition of the firebrick, baffle and secondary tubes as well as a good look over for any cracks or issues. Will the shop guarantee the insert against major defects for a season?

Unless the insert is going to only be used occasionally or to heat a small area, a blower is most likely going to be desired. Will they provide one at cost? This is a pricey item.

Thank you for the reply. The old fire brick was out of it when I got a look at it and new fire brick was going into it. The shop owner said he would warranty it for 1 year.

I'd get them to throw in a blower. Otherwise sounds like a good deal for a solid heater.

Can't get the guy to throw in a blower. A new one is around $350 is that right? New blower is going to cost more than half the used stove price. Going to take one final look at the finished product tomorrow and most likely make the purchase. I really like the extended flat top so that's the main reason I'm thinking I should snatch it up since you never know what's going to be available with used stoves.

How large an area will the insert be heating. Will it be doing 24/7 heating or more like nights and weekends?

Mostly nights and weekends, however if my power goes it will be all I have. I have two story 5 bed 2 bath house just over 2,000 sq ft. Down stairs is only about 1500sq ft and there are two beds and one bath upstairs. I would mostly like to heat the down stairs and if heat rises that's good too. It's a unique lay out but the kitchen, dining room, living room, wash room, one bathroom, and one bedroom are all about connected with the insert being in the living room and the stairs being off the living room leading to the upstairs two bed rooms and bath. Not a big house but it's home.

It will do the job, but a blower and a damper sealing block-off plate will help it heat better. In lieu of that a fan blowing toward the base opening under the door will help. Be sure to have dry wood split and stacked by now or buy seasoned, now.

I ended up getting the stove with the surround for $550 delivered to my house.

Great stove, keep an eye out for a used fan assembly, you will need it to get the maximum amount of heat from the stove.
