Was able to get this free score this morning. There were some oak (don't know type) trees that were cut in the national forest on a road that runs by my house. They were lying in the ditch. There are about 4 more loads about this size that is there for the taking. 24 huge rounds.

While I was cutting a guy came by and said he had a place up the road getting logged and for me to get what I wanted.

Wow great score... looks like some good red oak. You'll be nice and warm in 2017! Just try not to overload your truck

I'd try to not buck any more than you can get in one load. I find that hard to do, but the next guy's story would be " I found all this great wood bucked and stacked by the side of the road!!".

I have a tandem axle trailer that I load over the axles, so truck does not have a problem

Yeah it is nice to be ahead. I am burning oak and hickory this year that was cut and stacked two years ago. It has only been cold enough for a couple of fires. But that stuff starts up great and burns forever.
