This year, I've noticed my burns are shorter and more intense. I did a test last week by loading up the firebox with large splits mostly oak with a little bit of pine. 4 hours later I only had coals. I always burn with air control off. It peaked at 700 deg. and it just looked like it was getting a lot of draft. How can I tell if my control switch is stuck on open? Note, I'm burning better seasoned wood this year and I do have a tall chimney easily 35 foot.

Thanks!

First thing to check would be the door gaskets by doing the dollar bill test. If that checks out ok then it'd be good to check the ACC mechanism to be sure it is not sticking.
