Rainy season.... water and rust coming down the chimney

Hello all.

With all the rain we've been getting I seem to getting a lot of rain water coming down the stack. It's rusting the back of the stove and the chimney support. I used all high quality Excel stainless chimney but the support itself is plain steel and is dripping rust. I did an inside and outside inspection of the flashing, storm collar and caulking. All was sealed and dry.

We just had an inch or two of driving rain last night. I pulled the stove pipe and physically saw water running down the inside of the flue pipe.

Should I be looking into a more rain friendly cap or possibly a summer cover? Winter isn't an issue as the fire keeps things dry.

Excel offers a few solutions. There is the deluxe rain cap (EDRC), a wind and rain shield (ERCW) and a revolving rain cap, (ERRC)

Went up and doublechecked everywhere for any other way water might get in. I read some types of chimney require you so seal the seams of the tubes but it looks like Excel seems are fully welded.

I ordered the ERCW wind and rain shield. Hopefully that will help reduce the intrusion.

Leak fixed. Water was getting into the cap and in between the inner and outer tubes.

This picture provided a clue that water was getting between the two pipes. The second is a view of the cap removed and upside down. I applied high heat silicone in the gap that was at the intersection of two parts. I could see light through the gap.
I called the company. They were quite adamant that it was an install issue and the water was getting in through the roof. I proceeded to inspect my install very closely. I took a garden hose and tried forcing water in through the flashings with no success. That is when I took the cap off for a closer look.
