I am disassembling a vintage Excelsior cast iron boxwood stove. It had old joint sealant that I removed and wanted a convenient alternative to the classic stove cement. Is there a hi temp silicone sealant that can be applied from the inside of the assembled stove that will work? Basically apply it to the assembled joints like you would on a bathroom tub?

nope you need to put furnace cement in the joints as you assemble them anything you apply to the surface will either burn off or crack and fall off. There also is no silicone that will hold up to the temps you need. For assembling stoves I find that the furnace cement in a caulk tube works best. It is just easier to get it where you need it without getting it everywhere else.
