Red oak haul

My grandfather has some mountain land and I received permission to take anything downed. To my excitement there are many 60ft plus oaks uprooted. Most likely from sandy. Only got 2 loads today, the road is tough traveling. Basically an old logging path from the 60s. Most likely many more pics to come. Enjoy.

Good haul of red oak , splits like me no gloves . Wearing to many cloths , coat on. Take it off and split like heck. I split in a tee shirt toady at 34 today.

Great score! I just got finished splitting some big red oak rounds I scrounged and boy is it easy splitting. Nice square splits too. Have fun

How in the heck did you lift them HEAVY rounds into the truck. Been cutting red oak to that sandy took down. If your going to split by hand its a lot easier to split if where it was cut if possible then load it onto the truck

That's a buddy of mine in the photos, he's the only reason I got those huge rounds on the truck! I was very surprised how easy this stuff split. Can't wait to go at it in full force. I can't wait to go get more rounds. I'm addicted!

Update.
Had the day off so I picked up two more loads. Split about one truckload the other day too. Wow, what splendid wood to split! Smells fantastic too. I can't wait for 3 years to be up so I can use this stuff!
What I started with, 3 uproots. My 310 for size comparison.

Those have to be some of the prettiest rounds I've ever seen. Perfect splitting. It would be a shame to waste hydraulics on them.

Technique son, technique. One can lift them into the truck in different ways, but it is easier still if your simply roll them up into the truck using a plank and a cant hook.

Very nice. How long do you buck your rounds? They look like they're ~24in.

I don't even see any sag in that 2500 - sweet rig and vanity plates to boot

I gotta ask though - am I seeing red paint on the rounds?
