Removing Jotul Kennebec insert

Do you want to be able to use the fireplace as a wood burning open face fireplace? If so, then yes. You need to remove the liner and address and modifications that may have been done the the smoke shelf/damper area during the original install.
 
Why would you want to do that? Are you moving or do you just want to go from a very efficient heat source to a heating disaster?
 
:) We are moving and I don't want to leave a wood stove in a house that we are selling or renting, so we are going to sell it.
Bought it in 2005 and have used it religiously every winter. The Jotul has been a wonderful unit!!!!

Will be installing a Hearthstone Pheonix in the new house.
