In preparation for doing my block off plate, i’m trying to find the best variety of Rockwool to use. Going online, I see that there are a number of varieties of it and was reading that some may be better not to use because of the binders contained in it. What have people found to be the best variety to use? The more rigid “board” form of it looked good to me, because I’m thinking it would maybe conform better to the top of fire box cavity around liner. As much as possible, I’d like to avoid the chemical smell that I’ve been reading about online.
Thanks for the insight ahead of time.

In my case I used Comfortboard 80 R6.3 panels in the chase behind my new gas fireplace. This stuff cannot offgas until at least 250 C (like inside a normal stove oven at max/broil).

Ceramic wool (kaowool) is also suitable.
