This may be a silly question so I'll apologize in advance. We are considering purchasing a home that has a wood stove smack in the middle of the open concept living/dining area. I think it was probably put there because it was the easiest place to run the chimney but it really looks awful. It faces the door, which makes no sense to me. We would like to rotate it 90 degrees, so it faces the living room. It's on a good size hearth so that should not be an issue.
Other than the fact that this beast must weigh a ton, is there any reason why we could not do this? We know pretty much nothing at all about wood stoves other than you put wood in them and make fire, so we have a lot to learn about maintenance, etc.

All kidding aside this is hands down the most informative site for answering any questions you have. If you google a question about burning wood or wood stoves the query usually has multiple answers from hearth.com. Welcome aboard
