I had a bunch of green beech logs dropped off on my property this past spring and I've only now gotten around to bucking them up. I was pretty bummed to see that the wood had already begun spalting and in the very beginning stages of getting punky, this happened faster than I expected, I guess due to the extremely wet summer we had in southern NY this past year.

My question is will the rot stop once I get it split, stacked and covered?
I had dreams of next winter being set with a nice few cords of beech/yellow birch/ black birch mix.

If you get it CSS and top covered (sides open) you should be able to salvage most of it
