Saw cover pray coating ?

Ok my saw collects dirt dust were the chain/sprocket is.
Does any one spray something like span after cleaning/degreasing the cover and body of the saw ?
 
The only thing I spray in that area is air. Much like greasing a splitter beam...my opinion is that you are inviting more gunk to hang around.

Oh well next time I clean it up I'll try a dry spray ..
 
Due to the ever present bar oil spray in that area it may be a futile fight.
Well I'm not going to clean it off until I have to clean the saw again ....

You should be flipping the bar every five or so tanks of fuel. I usually run a chain for 2-3 tanks of fuel, then swap it for a sharp one. I have 3-4 chains per saw and sharpen them all at the same time. When changing out the chain I also clean out the sprocket clutch cover, etc.
